Bird watching in the Eastern Rhodopes, Bulgaria: Blue Rock-Thrush, Rock Nuthatch, Crag-Martin, Alpine Swift, Nightingale, Golden Oriole, Eastern Black-eared Wheatear, Griffon Vulture, Egyptian Vulture and more.
In May 2015 we had a very successful bird count trip through Bulgaria. We counted birds at 61 points (blue dots in the map), many of them new for the project (previous points are orange). We counted 125 species of birds. All together, including birds seen outside the counts, we saw and heard 152 species of birds. In September 2015, the Homopus Research Foundation will conduct scientific fieldwork on tortoises in South Africa. There is room for 3 volunteers.
