These so called "Brincos à Rainha" (queen style earrings) are very elegant and, unlike the "arrecadas", are adapted copies of earrings which appeared in Portugal under Queen Maria I. Those earrings had diamonds while these, for lower classes, had some faceted gold work (simulating the gems). They usually have 3 major moving parts with a hook behind.
