Also known as a Crested Parrot or Quarrion, the Cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus) is found throughout inland Australia. Feeds upon the seeds of grasses and herbaceous plants and nests in a hole of a tree or stump. The bird is migratory in its southern range congregating in pairs or flocks. John Gould, 1848.
Also known as the Smutty Parrot and Brown's Parrot, the Adelaide Rosella (Platycercus elegans adelaidae) ranges from the southern Mount Lofty Ranges to the lower Flinders Ranges. It eats seeds and fruits and nests in a hole in a tree. Considered a subspecies of the Crimson Rosella. John Gould, 1848.
