Rare 1800's Decor Secretary Steamer Trunk  -  Britain and India are both in the northern hemisphere so the port  (left-hand side) berths were mostly in the shade when travelling out (easterly) and the starboard ones when coming back.  So the best and most expensive berths were POSH, hence the term Port Out Starboard Home POSH.

Rare Philadelphia William and Mary walnut chest on frame, ca. 1730, with overall line and berry inlay, over a case with two short and three long drawers, separated by turned half round moldings, resting on a base with a single drawer supported by turned legs, 45" h., 42" w. Although the present chest survives with reduced legs and lacking the center front leg and stretchers, it is the only surviving example of the form known with line and berry decoration.
