On Aug. 30, 1987, Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson sets a new world record for the 100-metre dash. On Sept. 24, 1988 at the Olympic Summer Games in Seoul, South Korea, he won the 100m final, the Gold medal, and set a new world record of 9.79 seconds. Three days later he was disqualified for doping.
