Queen Margherita of Italy (1851-1926) - At her marriage to Prince Humbert of Italy in 1868, Queen Margherita wore this Mellerio diadem purchased by her father-in-law King Victor-Emmanuel II at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1867. This diadem enshrined the naturalist style of the Maison Mellerio dits Meller. Both naturalistic and romantic, it is epitomises the plant designs of the 1860s.
A rarely seen belle epoque tiara, circa 1890. Formerly the property of 5th Countess of Caledon, then sold at auction in 1950s. Featuring a series of diamond scrolls, supporting a large diamond central cluster, sold for £4,800.
The Strathmore Rose diamond tiara was made around 1900 by Catchpole & Williams. Allegedly, The Earl if Strathmore gave it to his daughter ( Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, aka the Queen Mother) in 1923. The tiara is feminine and beautiful; there are five large diamond roses separated by diamond sprays. Additionally the diamond roses can be fashioned into brooches.
