The Dark of Harkness ~ Historian Deborah Harkness breathes life into the mysteries of the past by embroidering fiction onto gaps in the historical record. At the centerpiece of her emAll Souls Trilogy/em of books is the perplexing, real-life manuscript Ashmole 782, originally donated to the Bodleian Library at Oxford University in 1858. "I'm around the corner. At Gallowglass's condo," Miriam replied (to Matthew) "What condo?" Matthew frowned. "The one he bought on Wooster Square. Some converted church. It's very nice - a bit too Danish in decor, but far preferable to Marcus' dark and gloomy period." St. Casimir Lithuanian church of New Haven, now apartments, certainly fits this description. Bishop wine: "Tonight's special wine for dinner with the family is in honor of the Bishop family. Guessing Matthew had stashed some of this in his cellar for future meals." (photo debharkness on Instagram)
"My inspiration for the Bishop house was actually a house one of my grandfathers built in western Massachusetts around 1750. It looks almost identical to this house, which was built in the same small town at the same time. Many settlers to upstate New York came from Western Massachusetts, and they built farm houses that looked like those they grew up in." ~ Deborah Harkness facebook
