Jonathan Smith - Revolutionary War veteran who fought in the Battle of Long Island on August 29, 1778. His unit was the first brigade that went out. After the war, he became a Baptist minister. On October 20, 1854, he had this daguerrotype taken to give to a granddaughter; he died on January 3, 1855. History collected by Joseph M. Bauman.
Daniel Spencer (May 26, 1759 - 1854) a shoemaker, began his service in Capt. John McGregier's Company of the 4th Infantry Regiment, Connecticut Continental Line on July 8, 1780, exactly one month before turning 21. The outfit had suffered through the harsh winter at Valley Forge. He was among men sent to capture the turncoat Benedict Arnold.
