Porto & North of Portugal

Porto (called Oporto by the British) is Portugal’s second largest city, known worldwide for its prime export, Port wine. In 2006, the region marked the 250th anniversary of Port wine production along the Douro River valley, which is easily explored by car or river cruises.

The golden age of the painted ceramic tile was the late 17th to early 18th century but these scenes were painted by Eduardo Leite in the early 20th century.
