CONSTRUÇÃO SUSTENTÁVEL® is an initiative that supports the mainstreaming of good practices in construction in the Mediterranean Climate Region. Many years of experience on site and more recently the co-creation experience with the promoters of the best available technologies in construction and refurbishment with the Sustainable Construction Living Lab – all come together in these thematic events.
“EMBRACING CREATIVE LEADERS” Bas Verhart is a creative entrepreneur and Co-Founder of THNK. He is also Co-founder of PICNIC, CEO of Media Republic, a leading digital media and entertainment company, based in Amsterdam and he is a board member of Trendwatching.com. Within THNK he focuses on development of corporate partnerships and his passion and purpose is to bring together brilliant creative minds to work on projects that focus on global societal challenges.

Clive van Heerden and Jack Mama will be the guest speakers at the Human Habitat Lecture on the 30th of June! Together they run vHM Designfutures in London, a consultancy firm, which specializes in the design of future lifestyle scenarios based on socio-cultural research and emerging technologies. The team has, over twenty years, explored new product genres, innovation strategy and vision projects, culminating in pioneering approaches to research, product innovation and new business. �

OLE LARSEN also from DHI will give a talk on the 19th of May. After finishing a Post Doc, Ole pursued a career as Managing Director at DHI Germany and is currently the research director for the APAC region. He has broad experience in sediment and water management. Presently, his focus is on developing and applying new tools and methodologies for disaster risk management.

DANISH HYDRAULIC INSTITUTE is a very global  company with a critical role in water innovation world wide. Lisbeth will give a talk on the 28th of April and Ole will give his talk on the 19th of May. Both lectures will teke place in the evening at the Oceanário de Lisboa.

LISBETH BIRCH PEDERSEN Lisbeth works at DHI as specialist in integrated real-time hydrological framework systems.  During her career at DHI she has worked as DHI’s Business Area Manager for Information Management Systems and is one of the leading experts in coupling weather radar data with hydrological models in online warning systems. Currently she is one of the key players in the global roll-out of the DHI’s MIKE CUSTOMISED software framework.

Menno gave a talk for Human Habitat in 2012 and Bas will give a talk on the 22nd of September, just before the first THNK in Lisbon Program takes off.

BALL POOL It was Ad Verheul who invented the BALL POOL we see in fast food and other chains! He described such a touching happening: sometimes, the inhabitants of De Hartenberg Center (all with profound mental disabilities) remain in the ball pool for many hours, perhaps because they feel comfortably embraced...  they slowly sink to the bottom and need to be “fished” out...

SNOEZELEN explores the senses and observes and engages with the reactions (many very subtle) of people with deep disabilities and with dementia among other conditions. By finding ways of engaging with these people, often their families realise they are actually beings and not merely “puppets” needing protection.
