ancient Minoan art, 1600 B.C. - Akroteri Fresco

This beautiful fresco was found in a small house northwest of the palace with richly decorated walls. It is called the House of the Frescoes. The second fresco is in the Caravanserai, a probable reception hall at the south of the palace. Some of the rooms have baths and the walls are decorated with wall paintings.

The Procession of Ladies: From our Akrotiri Collection which features frescos from the ancient Minoan City of Akrotiri on the island Santorini. The most popular interpretation of this wall-painting suggests a religious significance. An alternative interpretation is that this wall-painting celebrates an important event in the life of the a missing figure.
