Monsanto - Portugal

Monsanto, escolhida em 1938 como "aldeia mais portuguesa de Portugal". Merece o título: empoleirada numa encosta granítica, as casas surgem apertadas entre enormes penedos, com minúsculos quintais e hortas separados por muros de pedra e ladeiras talhadas na rocha viva e que se fundem com ela. O castelo começou por ser um castro lusitano, depois restaurado pelos romanos, e sofreu uma longa história de combates e cercos. Tudo na aldeia foi cuidadosamente preservado.
