John Bradley - A Navy corpsman, who was one of the three surviving men who raised the American Flag over Mt. Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in WWII. It was his son, James, that wrote "Flags of Our Fathers" in

Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a historic photograph taken on February by Joe Rosenthal. It depicts five United States Marines and a U. Navy corpsman raising the flag of the United States atop Mount during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.
