Gustave Dore - Paradise Lost---Dore is one of my favorite illustrators, hands down.

Paradise Lost - Gustave Dore/ John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost, describing the Christian story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and the ensuing fall of man, is considered one of the greatest pieces of literature in the English language.

Camelot, by Gustave Doré. 1868. Painted for "Idylls of the King" by Lord Alfred Tennyson.

/// Camelot, engraving by Gustave Doré to illustrate the Arthurian poems in Idylls of the King, by Lord Alfred Tennyson,

When trying to invasion dante's inferno this picture really captured it. When I think of hell and the "layers" of it. I take that literally. I imagine hell is stacked bodies or people and its crowded and disgusting. One thing that God has given us is nature and beauty and its open and free and it stretches for miles. But like this picture hell will be on going and infested with people and you will get yourself back again because your soul will no longer belong to you
