Aída dos Santos is an ex-Olympic athlete in the high jump. In the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she was Brazil’s only female competitor of 69 athletes. She didn’t have a coach and didn’t even have clothes for the Opening Ceremonies. She was given clothes from another competition. In finishing in 4th place and nearly capturing a bronze medal, she became the 1st Brazilian woman to compete in an Olympic final.
