The white stag is a familiar creature of myth and legend. The white stag in Celtic myth is an indicator that the Otherworld is near. It appears when one is transgressing or breaking a taboo. It also appears as an impetus to quest--the white stag or hart often appears in the forests around King Arthur's court, sending the knights off on to adventure against gods and fairies. Deirdre and Naoise. One of the most tragic stories in Irish mythology. Like Helen of Troy, beautiful Deirdre unintentionally spawned a war between powerful men. Bugul Noz - In Breton mythology, the Bugul Noz, is a fairy spirit who lives in the woodlands of Brittany. His name means 'Night Shepherd'. The Bugul Noz is the last of his kind and to his despair, he is also ugly. His appearance is so awful that even wild animals avoid him, and he sometimes cries out to warn humans of his approach, so that he won't frighten them. The Urisk, or Ourisk, is a form of Peallaidh - strange creatures that roam sylvan river-banks and other similar places in Scotland. Unlike some other Peallaidh though, the Urisk is not a danger nor a prankster. In fact the Urisks would like nothing more than to hold a pleasant conservation with a human. However as soon as they enthusiastically approach someone to talk, their unusual appearance generally causes humans to run away in terror. Weird Creatures
