Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen (1919 - 2004) foi uma das mais importantes poetisas portuguesas do século XX. Foi a primeira mulher portuguesa a receber o mais importante galardão literário da língua portuguesa, o Prémio Camões, em 1999.

Camilo Ferreira Botelho Castelo Branco (1825 - 1890) was one of the most prolific writers of Portuguese literature and striking. Novelist, columnist, critic, playwright, historian, poet and translator, was also the first. Viscount de Correia Botelho, title granted by King D. Luís. His most important works were, Amor de Perdição, A Queda de um Anjo and The Crime do Padre Amaro.

Vitorino Nemésio (1901 - 1978) was novelist, poet, columnist, essayist, biographer, historian of literature and culture, journalist, researcher, epistolographer, philologist  and television communicator, in addition to all the activity of teaching. One of his most important works was "O Mau Tempo no Canal", which received the Award Ricardo Malheiros Academy of Sciences.

Mário de Sá-Carneiro (1890-1916) is closely related to his personal experience, that is, it shows his inadequacy to the world and the constant pursuit of his own self. This makes the poet immerse himself in his inner world and achieve self-destruction. Delirium and confusion of the senses, marks of his personality, define his egotism, a search to express the unconscious and the dispersion of the self in the world.
